What is Myotherapy Treatment?

Myotherapy is a branch of manual medicine aimed to prevent, correct and rehabilitate sporting and occupational injuries to restore and maintain normal functioning of the body. Myotherapy is fast becoming a trusted and effective form of treatment of many conditions and dysfunctions.

The President of Myotherapy Association Australia, Anna Yerondais, explains a patient would consult a Myotherapist if they're "suffering with acute or chronic pain". This is because a Myotherapist works in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy.

"Myotherapists are highly regarded for their extensive knowledge in the treatment and recovery from musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction," she says.

Because Myotherapists are highly trained they are more specific to injuries and assessing when needed. Trigger Point Massage, Dry Needling and cupping are modalities that they may use to help in recovery and pain relief.

What Should I Expect From Remedial Massage?

Depending on your particular muscular problem and tailored treatment there could be pain or discomfort up to 24 hours or 72 hours afterwards the session. People will often sore and  feel like they’ve done a workout as the treatment is deep.

Who is Remedial Massage good for? Although Remedial massage is widely used in sports medicine and professional or high-level athletes the majority of people seek massage therapy for stress or tension-based pain. Most patients come in because they have upper back, neck and shoulders pain and tension with stress being one of the biggest reasons. Stress can easily manifest in the body and triggers pain especially headaches. Lifestyle factors like pore posture sitting at an office desk is a big problem these days.
